Community Service at HCTE
Community Service is one of the three main missions of the college. Hence, we diligently serve the community at our reach. The community service we deliver encompasses all material supports to involving in infrastructures building. Since its establishment, the college has been actively involving in the activities that promote the wellbeing of the community directly or indirectly.
Below are some of the community service activities HCTE is actively engaging:
- Building a model Pre-primary school in the Central Sidaama Zone, Dalle District, Soyama sub-district. The project costs about 7,000,000.00 (seven million) Ethiopian Birr. The fund is procured from the generous contribution of one month net salary by the HCTE community (academic and administrative staff) and from the internal revenue of the college.
- Donation of the book titled “Sidaamu-Afoo Hanafaano Borreessaanora” to support early graders easily read and write Sidaamu Afoo. Over 2400 copies were printed and distributed via the regional education bureau.
- Donations of used computers, chemical, stationeries and science kits to schools – The College donated over 15 used computers, consumable amounts of over 50 different chemicals to promote science experiments at schools in the region. Handful stationeries and Science kits were also donated to different primary schools.
- Donations of armchairs, armless chairs, tables and shelves – We have furnished 4 classrooms with 210 new armchairs at Hogowa primary school; donated 150 armless chairs (50 each) to Addis Zemen primary school, Daka primary schools and Haweela Lida secondary school. Ten tables, 50 armless chairs, four shelves and stationeries were also handed over to regional prisoner administration.
- The college covered the costs of annual medical insurance payment of 40 helpless families paying over 36,000.00 (thirty six thousand ETB).
- Offered the support of 50,000.00 (Fifty thousand birr) to the regional Teachers’ Association Annual symposium.
These are some of the community services the College engages in.
