Welcome to Hawassa College of Teacher Education website. Our college aims to make a significant change in education training in the country. It is committed to providing problem-solving service delivery based on research, student-centered training and community service.

One of the oldest streams in the academic sector at Hawassa College of Teacher Education is the Education Stream, which provides fundamental knowledge in teaching and learning areas. Established in 1969, the Education Stream has been graduating trainees from certificate to degree programs.

Our stream trains future teachers in seven departments, focusing on inclusive learning strategies, classroom management, curriculum revision and preparation, psychological readiness, teaching methods and child care and development.

Our stream fosters a dynamic learning environment where students, instructors, and community members engage in active learning, culturally responsive pedagogy, rigorous scientific discovery, deep support, and community-based engagement. Since 1969, our college has trained thousands of education professionals who are serving the country in various capacities.

We have been a key source of human resources for leadership and experts in the Sidama National Regional State Education Bureau and local schools. In our stream, we strive to enhance the quality of education in all areas collaborating with energetic, active, experienced and knowledgeable teachers and leaders. Since 2016, Hawassa College of Teacher Education has been recognized as a center of excellence, providing educational opportunities for both the community and scholars within the college and surrounding areas. We would like to invite you to visit Hawassa College of Teacher Education and find the information you need on this website. We also hope that you will visit the website.
